Calcium carbonate extraction:

There are two main methods for extracting calcium carbonate from the ground:

1- Mining:

This is the most common method of extracting all other minerals. The raw material is obtained from underground through a carefully removed process, and a lot of equipment and skilled experts are involved in this process.

In the mining process, heavy equipment is used to remove layers of rock that contain calcium carbonate. These rocks are then transported to a processing facility, where they are ground into a fine powder.

2- Quarrying:

This is another method of extracting calcium carbonate. The quarrying method involves deriving the compound by cutting limestone, marble, chalk, etc. It is the common method of removing limestone.

In the quarrying process, manual or mechanical tools are used to cut limestone from rock. This limestone is then transported to a processing facility, where it is ground into a fine powder.

Differences between the two methods

Cost:  The mining process is more expensive than the quarrying process.
Efficiency:  The quarrying process is more efficient than the mining process, as more calcium carbonate can be extracted per unit area.
